Getting Involved
As we develop (particularly when we open the Front Porch Project HQ in September 2009) we'll have a wealth of opportunties to connect and get involved. Are you interested in:
Conversation and Dialogue? Would you like to participate in, or facilitate, conversation cafés? Want to attend a round-table seminar, sign onto a book study group, or join a writer's circle? Let us know! We want to create a crossroad for dialogue in downtown Austin, and every voice we can bring to that conversation is crucial!
Music and Art? Are you an artist looking for space for your work, or a new band working on that first gig? We'd love to hear from you, and see if we can help you find that perfect venue. Like live music? We do, too (and we'll be looking for ways to get our volunteers in free!) Are you crafty--a radical knitter, a visual artist, or have a deep-seated need to lead a class on scrapbooking? We'd love to offer you a table, with seats for newbies to develop their own skills!
Food and festivity? The Front Porch HQ will be a coffeespace for the busy office scene--but we'll also offer wine and spirits, local microbrews, a range of fine teas. One element of our vision is to create a "Community of the Kitchen," a network of local foodies helping us build community through food and create an evolving menu of unique offerings.
Have we left something out? Probably. We hope to foster art, community, conversation, spirituality, dance and music, celebration, a sense of community and family in downtown Austin. As a non-profit organization in development, we are looking for a community of participants--enthusiastic participants in our conversations, people with a fire to teach and share at the table, and individuals willing to donate materials and financial support to the Front Porch as we work to open our doors.
